Board

Tomahawk

$300

A board you buy once and hand down.

The smaller board for the nights when it is just the inner circle. Same edge-grain build, same groove, same flat back, fits a smaller counter and a smaller cook.

Wood Walnut

Handles sold separately

Free local pickup in Salt Lake City, or ships in 5 to 7 business days. US only. One-year warranty on glue seams and inserts.

The Pitmaster's smaller brother. Same edge-grain build, same groove, same honest weight, in a size that fits a normal counter and still handles a serious cut. Pork shoulder, ribs, a couple of tri-tips, or a full spread for a table of people.

It is cut in our Salt Lake City shop and finished food-safe, and the underside is threaded for our hand-cast handles. If the Pitmaster is the board for the all-day brisket, this is the one you reach for every weekend.

How it is made

Hand-selected wood. Cut in Salt Lake City.

We pick the wood, cut and flatten it on the CNC, drill and thread it for the handles, sand it, and oil it. The handles are sculpted and cast by hand in Utah.

Looking after it

  • Wash by hand, never the dishwasher.
  • Dry it standing on edge so both faces dry evenly.
  • Oil it when it looks thirsty.
  • Keep it out of standing water and direct sun.

The price

The price is the materials and the making. Edge-grain walnut or maple, an inch and an eighth thick, cut flat and true in our Salt Lake City shop. It has the mass to stay planted under a knife and it is built to be re-oiled and handed down rather than thrown out. Spread across years of weekend cooks, it is one of the cheaper things at the party.
