Good wood, good metal, made here, made to last.

This started with a brisket and a bad board. I would spend fourteen hours on a cook. Up before dawn to light the fire, watching the temperature through the day, riding out the stall, resting the meat like it deserved. And then I would open the cupboard and pull out a cutting board built for chopping onions. Too small for the cut. No groove, so the juice ran onto the counter. Light enough to slide around while I carved. Everything I could buy felt like an insult to the work that went into the meal.

So I built the board I wanted. Big enough for a whole packer. Grooved deep enough to hold what a brisket gives up. Heavy enough to stay put, with a clean flat back for serving the spread. I made it out of American hardwood, thick and true, and I made it in Salt Lake City.

We are still here, still small, still making them the same way. That is the whole company. Good wood, good metal, made here, made to last.

A frame for the food.

No one should have to serve a fourteen-hour brisket on a board made for chopping onions.

How they are made

Machine where machine is better. Hand where hand is better.

We are straight about how these are made. The boards are cut on a CNC machine in our Salt Lake City shop. That is not a shortcut, it is the reason the groove fits a whole packer and the surface comes off dead flat, board after board. The handles are the opposite kind of work. A Utah artist sculpts the bull's head and casts each one by hand in brass or aluminum, so no two wear in exactly alike.

The name

A nod to Kansas City.

Burnt ends are the best bite on the brisket, the part everybody reaches for, and Kansas City gave them to the world. We are a Utah company that respects where barbecue came from, so we wear the name as a tribute, not a claim. Every barbecue person knows exactly what a burnt end is. That shared reverence is the point.

Where it is made

Every board leaves the shop in Salt Lake City.

We pick the wood, cut and flatten it, drill and thread it for the handles, sand it, and oil it. The handles are sculpted and cast here too. Made in Salt Lake City. Made in the USA. Made with pride.
